DIBA looks back at wonderful & unique event during Design Week in Milan

DIBA looks back at a wonderful and unique event held on 20 April last during the Design Week in Milan.

The evening started with a tour through the Fuorisalone (the design exhibited in the center of Milan outside of the Salone del Mobile fair- www.fuorisalone.it) guided by fashion designer Barbara Borra, who also showed us palaces that are normally closed for the public, such as Palazzo Visconti.

Subsequently, Angela Mannaerts and Godelieve Cooymans interviewed nicole uniquole, at Masterly – The Dutch in Milano, the Dutch pavilion in the Fuorisalone located this year in Palazzo dei Giureconsulti (www.masterly.nu). Nicole told us about her career and that the idea to create Masterly came about when she had to visit several corners of Milan in order to see the Dutch design (see also www.uniquole.nl). With Masterly Nicole brings over 80 designers together in one historic building. In fact, Nicole enjoys combining modern design with old objects. Nicole then guided the DIBA members through the Masterly exhibition highlighting some designs, such as the lamps made from fisher nets by Signify (Philips) in collaboration with the textile designer Aleksandra Gaca and the flower wall designs of Joris Kuipers.

The interview and tour with Nicole Uniquole were registered so that the members who could not be physically present could follow the event online. Several DIBA members met at the office of Mannaerts Moreschini & Associati in Rome to follow the event together.

The evening ended with a delicious apericena at the terraces of Palazzo dei Giureconsulti.

DIBA is grateful to Nicole Uniquole for her availability and insights and for rendering the first hybrid DIBA event from Milan an unforgettable event.
